Before heading up toward the Temple of San Fortunato, on the left, stands the monument dedicated in 1930 by Todi to its famous son, in commemoration of the seventh centenary of his birth. It was erected using stones and fragments from various historical periods, including a beautiful capital donated by the Civic Museum, which sits atop the column next to the niche that houses the statue of Jacopone. The statue, depicting the poet in prayer, is the result of the collaboration between two Florentine artists, Valmore Gemignani and Mario Nelli. In the Civic Library, manuscripts, miniatures, and codices, including part of the Laudario, are preserved as true treasures. Thanks to these works, Jacopone da Todi is recognized as one of the greatest poets of the 13th century.
